Your Safety
With ongoing troubles around the world Egypt is very security conscious, especially to the millions of tourists who visit there each year.
Because of the hydro/electric power plant & both high & low dams in Aswan we must have a passport photo copy of all of the members on your trip, these need to be done a minimum of a month before you are due to come fishing with us as we need to deal with the agencies to gain all necessary fishing permits and licences.
As well as this we also have a security officer on board with us, he is totally there for your safety & this is an insistence for the Egyptian authorities as they just simply can’t let tourists roam around the vast wilderness that is Lake Nasser.
All of this said, we are in constant communication via satellite phone; you will hardly see anyone on the lake other than the occasional local fisherman. With this in mind the lake is a very peaceful place indeed and is a great place to relax and unwind!
Dangerous Animals
There are Crocodiles in the lake, but they seem to keep out of the way of humans as they are poached by the locals. Also the crocs are mostly fish feeding as there is very little other prey for them. The times to be most aware of crocs are when they have young hatched or not getting between a croc and her nest is a definite no no!
There are several snakes to be wary of and scorpions too on some of the islands, so we recommend sturdy footwear for shorefishing. For these reasons we do not recommend people wandering off on their own Also we do carry snake bite kits just in case of snake or scorpion stings, as of yet we have had no cause to use such items.
Insurances
We also ask that you are to have your own insurance, please up rate your insurance to that which covers the same as skiing etc. (sports insurance) There are many online insurance companies that will cover you happily.
